John McCabe

NORTH SMITHFIELD- John McCabe, 86, of N. Smithfield, RI died in Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on Sept. 29th.
He was born in Woonsocket, RI, son of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Carey) McCabe of N. Smithfield.
Jack was the husband of Janet (Ethier) McCabe. They were married in Northbridge, MA on May 3, 1952. Jack was a resident of Blackstone, MA for thirty years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Church where he coached CYC basketball and other local basketball and little league teams. He volunteered for the Blackstone Fire Department and was employed by the former Blackstone Valley Electric Co. for forty years. Jack was a graduate of Blackstone High School, Coyne Trade School of Boston and a Navy Veteran; he was a member and officer of the Fairmont Post #85 Golf League and the Fullam Johnson Senior golf league.
Besides his wife, Jack is also survived by a son, John E. McCabe and his wife Monique; a daughter, Joanne Rosen and her husband Neil; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Timothy McCabe, Lucas Rosen and Daniel Rosen and his wife, Stephanie and great granddaughter, Ava Mary Rosen; a sister, Margaret Lizotte and her husband, Donald; a brother-in-law, William Bachmaier, husband of Jack's late sister, Barbara Bachmaier; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 5th in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay St., Providence, RI 02905 or the Phillip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 No. Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated by the family.
