Filmmakers look to use old high school

WOONSOCKET — Before it served city middle school students, the former Woonsocket Middle School at Park Square had quite a long history as home to Woonsocket High School and its junior high school program.
That history could soon become a film for use by schools, libraries and historical societies if two local filmmakers, Scott Gabrielson and Jason Allard have their way.
Gabrielson and Allard, who both have attended the old middle school building while in school locally, appeared before the City Council this week asking permission to enter the no longer used and practically abandoned school for filming related to their project.
Gabrielson, the owner of Ever-Dot Studios, an independent film production group, and Allard, a recent graduate of URI and media producer, are still working on the format of their project but envision it as relating the stories of Woonsocket High School students dating all the way back to the building’s opening in 1915.
