SANTEE, CA- Former Woonsocket, RI resident, Carol Ann Pero, 62, died September 29th 2012 at the Stanford Court Nursing Center in Santee, CA.
Ms. Pero was born December 3rd, 1949 in Woonsocket to Edgar M. Pero, Sr. and Lida B. (Bell) Pero, both of Woonsocket.
Affectionately known as "Taunt", Carol spent most of her life dedicating her love and patience to thousands of people with mental disabilities. Among other occupations, she worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for The Wrentham State Hospital in Massachusetts for over 15 years. She was never married but lived near or with family her whole life. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer 5 years ago and has been living with her nephew and niece, Kevin and Paula Cournoyer, and their children in Santee, CA.
Carol is survived by her brother Edgar M. Pero, Jr. "Sonny" of Florida, her sister Frances L. Cournoyer of North Carolina, and hundreds of close friends, family members, and clients whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Raymond Pero, of Woonsocket.
Her funeral, beginning with visitation at 9 AM will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 with a service at 11AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
