BURRILLVILLE- Mathias Match Marcoux 94, resident of Oakland, died October 6, 2012 at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag.
He was the husband of the late Mary (Lockwood) Marcoux.
Match was born in Mapleville, a son of the late Auguste & Oringa (Vanasse) Marcoux.
He worked for the former Midway Auto Sales as a parts manager, for many years, retiring in 1989. He also owned & operated Matchs Garage in Oakland in which he opened in 1945, where he ran it for 40 years. He was lifelong Burrillville resident. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as a Past Grand Knight; also he was a member of the US Powers Squadron. Match was a letter to the editor contributor to the call.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Mack of Oakland, Debra Naylor of Valrico FL, Patricia Meneghini of Pascoag, and Jean Croall of Harrisville, sons Donald of Harrisville, Timothy of Chepachet, and Albert Marcoux of Mapleville, 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, brothers, Albert Punk of Lincoln and Laurier Guy Marcoux of Harrisville, sisters, Sr. Solange Marcoux of Manchester NH, Camille Connell of Pascoag, and Jacqueline Auger of Pascoag.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Dennis, Richard, and Robert Marcoux, brother, Bertrand McGint Marcoux, sisters, Laure Salty Pepler, Jeanne Lawrence, Marguerite Margo Robitaille, and Cecile Rainey.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9am from the Brown Funeral Home 1496 Victory Hwy. Oakland with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Good Help Church in Mapleville. Burial will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery in Pascoag. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
