MURPHY, NC- Albert Himsey, age 87, of Murphy, NC went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2012.
He was a native of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and the son of the late George and Margaret Himsey.
Albert was a retired machinist and Preacher, and a member of the Murphy Free Methodist Church. He was a hero of his faith in the Lord, a dedicated family man and a US Marine World War II Veteran. He will be remembered as a man of honor, great dignity, integrity and a gentlemen.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Albert Jr.; three brothers, Michael, Frederick and Samuel; six sisters, Rose, Frances, Lena, Mary, Mabel and Evelyn and a son-in-law, Bud McKay.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Smith Himsey; four sons, David Himsey and Dianne of Rhode Island, Michael and wife Linda of Murphy, Daniel and Natalie of South Carolina and Alan Himsey of Massachusetts; three daughters, Gale Adler and husband Walter of GA, Kathy McKay-Rey of Murphy and Joanie Dougherty and husband Pete of Maryland; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Murphy Free Methodist Church. Pastor Tim Huff, Rev. Don Hand and Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Murphy Detachment 1011 of the Marine Corps League and the US Coast Guard Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Albert Himsey to the local and global Missions work. Donations should be sent to PO Box 1222, Murphy, NC 28906. Checks may be made payable to the Murphy Free Methodist Church and should contain the words, Himsey Memorial.
