WOONSOCKET - Joan (Maney) Carbone, 67, of Woonsocket, died October 12, 2012 in Landmark Medical Center. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Kiley) Maney.
Joan served in a number executive roles with various non-profits and in state and local government. She was the Associate Director of Greater Elmwood Neighborhood Services, Director of Human Resources for the City of Woonsocket and served on the Governor's staff during the Sundland administration. She was also a member of the Democratic City Committee and served on the City Council in the early nineties. She was the Jaycees Woman of the Year in 1977.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Carbone and his wife Denise of Milton, MA; her daughter, Lisa Carbone and her fianc Robert Ginsberg of Salem, MA; one sister, Patricia Morrison and her husband Paul of Glendale; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Anthony and Brian Carbone.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Charles Church, 190 N. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Monday from 4 - 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woonsocket Senior Center, 84 Social St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
