Lincoln's Spurwink School to mark 30 years

LINCOLN — The Spurwink School at 365 River Road is about to celebrate a milestone.
The small-setting, private school-based program serving students with a range of behavioral disorders will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a small gathering of staff, clients and friends on Nov. 14, according to Raymond Arsenault, executive director of the school’s parent non-profit corporation SpurwinkRI.
The event, down a step from a full-fledged birthday party given the current state of human services funding in R.I., will nonetheless highlight the work of several Spurwink School staffers who have gone above and beyond for their clients over the years.
The school’s success in meeting the needs of its students will also be lauded, according to Arsenault.
“It is a very successful school. It is a top-notch educational program,” he said. Spurwink students can return to other schools after a stay in the program or follow through and graduate right from Spurwink, according to Arsenault.
