William F. Shea

BELLINGHAM- William F. Shea, 89, of Bellingham, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice C. (Roy) Shea.
Born in Milford, MA on October 11, 1923, he was the son of the late James and Sophie (Meurisse) Shea.
He was the loving father of Kathleen M. Schram and her husband, Donald of Pascoag, RI. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Schram and his wife, Kathy of Las Vegas, NV and Ronald Schram of Chepachet, RI. He was the brother of Margaret Swanson of Medway, MA and the late James Shea. He leaves his nieces, Pauline Swanson of Medway, MA and Gloria Ream and her husband, Michael of Tucson, AZ.
A resident of Bellingham for 63 years, Bill worked as a machinist at Draper Corporation in Hopedale, MA for 18 years until their closing. He then worked at Wrentham State School for 10 years until retiring in 1989.
He was a United States Army Air Corp World War II Veteran serving with the 12th Air Cargo Resupply Squadron attaining the rank of Corporal and received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. He served in the battles of India Burma and China Defense.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0367 of Medway, MA, VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham, MA, the Odd Fellows Lodge #99 of Medway, MA, the Rosalie Rebekah Lodge#16 of Medway, MA, and the Upton Grange. He was a communicant of the former Assumption Church and St. Blaise Church, and a member of the St. Blaise Choir. Bill was an avid walker, enjoyed gardening, farming and raised farm animals. He enjoyed singing with the Bellingham Senior Chorus especially at Rest Homes. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 24th at 8:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery, Mechanic St. (Rte 140), Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, October 23rd from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
