LINCOLN – Children using the Lincoln Public Library are about to get more room for their reading and activity programs thanks to an addition project now under construction.
The site work is being conducted by the Bailey Group construction management firm on town-owned land just outside the existing children’s section and periodical reading area.
Becky Boragine, library director, said the approximate 2,300-square-foot addition will provide the library with new space to help alleviate crowded conditions in the 32-year-old building.
“It is going to increase the size of the children’s room and we will use the space from the existing children’s room to expand other areas, including circulation,” she said.
The library completes frequent book transfers with other Rhode Island libraries and unpacking the shipments at the existing circulation counter can be challenging during busy times for the library staff.
The new addition, located on a lawn that borders the high school baseball team’s Chet Nichols Memorial Field.
