Blackstone's Robert Dubois loses election bid

November 8, 2012

BLACKSTONE — Former Blackstone Selectman Robert J. Dubois Tuesday lost his election bid for state representative of the 8th Worcester District after incumbent Republican state Rep. Kevin Kuros won re-election to the seat by a vote of 10,475 to 9,972. Dubois, a Blackstone Democrat, lost the seat by a margin of 503 votes.
Formerly the 18th Worcester District, the towns now comprising the 8th District include Bellingham, Blackstone, Millville and Uxbridge. The 8th District was being represented by Ryan Fattman (R-Sutton), but he sought and won re-election in the newly drawn 18th Worcester District, which will include Sutton, Webster, Douglas and Oxford.
Dubois, who has served as chairman of the Blackstone Democratic Town Committee, ran for state representative in 2002, losing by one vote in a primary election to Jennifer Callahan.
“I would like to thank all those that supported me in this election. We lost by around 500 votes out of roughly 20,000 votes cast. We ran a great campaign and worked very hard,” Dubois told supporters on his Facebook page.
