Wilfred J. Provost, Sr.

WOONSOCKET- Wilfred J. "Pete" Provost, Sr., 92, of Bernon St., died November 25, 2012 at home. He was the husband of Stella R. (Lapierre) Provost, whom he married November 21, 1942.
Born in New Market, NH, he was the son of the late John and Marguerite (Tousignant) Provost.
He worked as a printer for the former Dennison Manufacturing Company, Framingham, MA, retiring in 1983. Prior to his work with Dennison Manufacturing, Wilfred worked at the French-Worsted Mill, Woonsocket for ten years. He served in the US Army during WWII, and is a member of VFW Post #263, in Woonsocket. Mr. Provost loved traveling with his wife, enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, was an avid reader and a member of St. Agatha's Church.
He is survived by three sons, Wilfred J. Provost, Jr. and his wife Mary Flinn Cunningham of Needham, MA, Richard J. Provost and his wife Kara of Smithfield, and Normand E. Provost and his wife Freda of Harrisville; three daughters, Madeleine J. Brule and her husband Normand of Woonsocket, Michelle F. Roberts and her husband Kerry of Smithfield, and Marie L. Houle and her husband David of Woonsocket; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward Provost, Celina Beaudette, Loretta Lussier, Florence Moreau, Dorina Bell, Irene Provost, and Victoria Provost.
His funeral will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm Street, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main St. Providence, RI 02904.
