Armed robbery reported in Cumberland

November 28, 2012

CUMBERLAND – Police are investigating an armed robbery at the BC Petroleum and Convenience Store at 3585 Mendon Road Tuesday night.
A man was said to have shown the clerk a gun while demanding money during the 8:30 p.m. incident, according to police.
Cumberland Police Sgt. John Cook said no one was hurt in the incident. Woonsocket police assisted Cumberland units in checking the Mendon Road area after the incident was reported.
Detectives were still interviewing witnesses late Tuesday evening and Cook said more information would be available on Wednesday. The incident follows several other robberies in the area including an armed robbery of One Stop Liquors on Railroad Street in Lincoln Saturday night. That incident also remains under investigation.
