NORTH SMITHFIELD - Irene (Metivier) "Mem" Lacombe, 94, of Saint Paul Street died November 29th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Alfred Lacombe.
Born in Albion, RI on July 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Dinora (Metivier) Metivier.
Irene was a weaver in various local textile mills until her retirement in 1978.
She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Flynn and her husband Michael, with whom she lived. She also leaves a granddaughter Amy Goulet and her husband Jeffrey, and great grandchildren Jason and Abigail. In addition, she leaves a nephew, Gregory Fortin and nieces Cynthia DeMaire, Christine Bibeault and Nicole Fortin Santoro. She was the sister of the late Jeannette Lebrun and Gabriel Fortin. She will be sadly missed by her precious Bichons, Carly and Sasha.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, December 15th at 11 a.m. in Saint Ambrose Church, 191 School Street, Albion, RI. Burial will follow in Saint Ambrose Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the North Smithfield Animal Shelter, 28 Quaker Highway, North Smithfield, RI 02896.
