WHIPPLE, Solange M. "Sally" (Lemieux) of Attleboro, MA, passed away on December 6, 2012. She was 90.
Sally was a long time patriot and animal lover. She avidly supported fire fighters, active duty military, veterans and animals. She also was very strong in her Catholic faith often visiting the La Salette Shrine. In the early 40's she was a nurse in New York City. She resided in Norwood for many years before settling in Attleboro. Throughout her life she retained her French-Canadian roots, her quick wit, and her love of learning. She was enrolled in on-line courses in science at the time of her death. She will be missed by many surviving relatives, friends, neighbors, and pets.
Sally was the beloved wife of the late Everett W. Whipple; loving mother of Everett L. Whipple and his wife Katherine of Auburn, GA, Holly Johnson and her husband Mark of Weathersfield, VT, William R. Whipple and his wife Brighitte of St. Petersburg, FL; cherished grandmother of Jennifer L. Weinbaum and her husband Craig of Ft. Myers, FL, Alexandra S. Whipple of Auburn, GA, Victoria Santos of Auburn, GA, Kate E. Onsgard and her husband Joshua of Windsor, VT, and Chloe and Tess Whipple of St. Petersburg, FL; proud great-grandmother of Ava and Jack Weinbaum and Leah and Kaleb; devoted sister of Richard E. Lemieux and his wife Sherrie of Voorhees, NJ. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 11th at 9:00am in Precious Blood Church, 94 Carrington Avenue, Woonsocket. Interment will follow the Mass in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. There will be no public calling hours.
Memorial contributions in memory of Solange M. "Sally" Whipple may be made to the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, 75-20 Astoria Blvd., Queens, NY 11370 or to the animal rescue or humane society of your choice.
