December 14, 2012

GLOCESTER – Police seized 47 marijuana plants, approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana and more than $15,000 in cash from the home of a local man Friday.
James A. Kerner, 56, of Gold Mine Road, was arraigned in Third District Court on charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and unlawful cultivation of marijuana, both felonies, police said.
Police executed a search warrant at Kerner’s home Friday morning after receiving a tip that he was growing marijuana in the house. They discovered an indoor pot farm with live plants and large quantity of packaged marijuana in the basement, according to Capt. Joseph Mattera.
In addition to cash, police also seized 1,500 ounces of silver coins and bars and a motor vehicle. By weight, the silver is worth about $48,000 at current prices.
Kerner is held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a hearing on Dec. 27.
