Arnold I. Kornstein

RICHMOND, VA - KORNSTEIN, Arnold I., 84, of Richmond, formerly of Woonsocket and Providence, Rhode Island, passed away, after a brief illness, on December 14, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Esta Strong Kornstein; three children, Dr. Michael J. Kornstein (Ann Kaplan), Dr. Susan G. Kornstein (Lee B. Krumbein), Dr. Howard S. Kornstein (Natalia Gourari); seven grandchildren, Sara Lerner (Matt), Joanna Kornstein, Samuel, Orly, and Benjamin Kornstein and Nathan and Iris Krumbein.
He was the son of the late Samuel and Hattie (Levy) Kornstein of North Smithfield, R.I., and was a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the president of Kornstein's Department Store, in Woonsocket, R.I. and later founded a video store chain. Mr. Kornstein spent the last 20 years as district manager for Aflac. He was a lifelong member of Congregation B'nai Israel and past president of the Woonsocket Chapter of B'nai B'rith and was the past president of the Woonsocket Small Business Association He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 16, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue followed by interment in Richmond Beth-El Cemetery at Forest Lawn Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to The United Jewish Appeal or a charity of your choice.
