UPDATE -- Candlelight vigil planned in Woonsocket

December 18, 2012

WOONSOCKET – Due to overwhelming response, Saturday's candlelight vigil in memory of the lives lost at Sandy Hook School in Conn. has been moved to the mini-park, where Santa's house is.
Set for 6 p.m., the event is co-sponsored by Kids for Peace RI and the Lyrics in Motion dance studio.
The event will include dance performances by senior company members and an appearance by Michael Jackson impersonator Mark Fisher. There will be a balloon-release for each victim.
Tables will be set up with refreshments, a card-making station for everyone to make cards and pictures for the Newtown community, and donations will be accepted to benefit the families and community affected by this tragedy.
Those attending are encouraged to bring an ornament to decorate the Kids for Peace memorial tree honoring the Sandy Hook victims.
“We are doing this to bring the community together in such a tragic time,” Kids for Peace said in a statement. “Kids for Peace is a small group of four children who were devastated by the actions of the gunman, and wanted to do something that would unite people together in our small state for a night of love, hope, and showing our support to those in Newtown.”
