A Providence & Worcester Railroad train waits to depart from the Woonsocket train depot on a run of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's annual holiday offering of the Polar Express. The station was once a key transportation link for the city but now serves as a headquarters for the Blackstone River Valley National Hertiage Corridor and only hosts special visits of passenger trains for events like the Polar Express, movie productions, or fall foliage tours.
