STRUTHERS, OHIO- Diane M. Messier, 76, died early Saturday morning, December 29, 2012 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Messier was born December 8, 1936 in Woonsocket, RI, a daughter of Isadore and Georgianna Roy Rondeau.
She lived in Rhode Island until moving to Savannah, GA in 1978, and later to Struthers, Ohio in 1998.
She previously worked as a nurse's assistant, a personal housekeeper, and most recently as a cook at the Blackburn Home in Poland, Ohio, before her retirement. She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and a former member of St. James Church while living in Savannah. Diane was also a member of the First Generation American Citizens and a member of the YMCA Swim Team.
In her spare time, Diane enjoyed cooking and baking (she known especially for her meat pies), fishing, and traveling. She had the experience of visiting Europe and getting to meet the Pope and traveling to many other places throughout the United States, visiting her children and family, the greatest joy of her life.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denise (Rick) Wagner of Poland, OH and Marie Johnson of Blair, OK; five sons, Richard (Tina) Peloquin of Savannah, Leo Peloquin of Savannah, Gerald (Danielle) Peloquin of Pascoag, RI, Mark Peloquin of Oklahoma City, OK, and David (Ron) Messier of Savannah; two sisters, Ann Lagace of Savannah and Pauline Fontaine of Woonsocket, RI; brother, Donald (Theresa) Rondeau of Savannah; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Robert, and Richard Rondeau.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31st, at noon at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, 764 Fifth Street, Struthers, Ohio 44471. Family and friends will be received Monday at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Diane's name to St. Jude Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or having a Mass said in her name.
