WOONSOCKET- Therese Y. (Gagne) Riley, 83, a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, died Friday, January 4, 2013 in the St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Frank V. Riley, who died in 1989.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Emile J. and Alberta I. (Mousseau) Gagne.
Mrs. Riley was a graduate of the former St. Clare High School and past president of the St. Clare Alumnae Association. She was a bookkeeper at the former Falk Bros. Clothing Store and the Belle & Beau Shop. Mrs. Riley was a secretary at Grochowski Associates and Mt. St. Charles Guidance Department. In 1992, she retired from Amica Insurance Company as an administrative assistant in the Creative Services Department. Mrs. Riley was a member and officer of the Beethoven Club, the Peloquin Chorale, the Kappa Beta Gamma Club, the Interfaith Choir and Yuletide Carolers. She was the former president and treasurer of Les Dames Richelieu du RI. Mrs. Riley was a soloist with several church choirs in the city, and in 2000 performed the National Anthem at the dedication of the new Veterans Memorial Bridge. She volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at Landmark Medical Center and also volunteered at the Stadium Theater.
She leaves her son, Mark F. Riley and daughter in-law Jan V. Riley, from Atlanta GA and three grandchildren, Sarah Riley from Atlanta, GA, Erin (Riley) Muilenburg, and Caroline Riley, both from Seattle, WA. Her son, Lt. Peter M. Riley, predeceased her.
Her funeral will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 beginning with visitation from 9 to 11 AM in OUR LADY QUEEN OF MARTYRS CHURCH, 1409 Park Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 2nd Lt. Peter M. Riley Scholarship Fund, Mt. St. Charles Academy, 800 Logee St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
