BOYNTON BEACH, FL - Lucien R. Hubert, 85, of Boynton Beach FL passed away on January 6, 2013. Lucien was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on June 28, 1927, son of Louis P. & Aurore (nee Belhumeur) Hubert.
He was initiated by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 1029 in July 1949 and became a Master Electrician. He was awarded his 60th year membership certificate in the IBEW in July 2009. Following High School, he joined the Navy in 1945 to help the war effort and was present for the commissioning of his ship, the Juneau II, at the Brooklyn Naval Yard on February 15, 1946 where he served out the term of his enlistment as a Gunner's Mate. Lucien's hobby was antique cars which he proudly repaired, maintained and exhibited at various antique car shows throughout New England.
Survivors include his brothers, Fr. Raymond Hubert, Pastor Emeritus of Emmanuel Catholic Church of Delray Beach FL and Louis P. Hubert, Jr. of Woonsocket, R.I. ; his sisters, Sr. Yvette Hubert, FMM, of Providence, R.I and Lucille Swinney and her husband, James Swinney of Boynton Beach FL as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with an 8:00 p.m. prayer service at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave., (North Federal Hwy), Delray Beach, FL. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 10, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Catholic Church 15700 S. Military Trail, Delray Beach, FL. Entombment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Mausoleum, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd., Suite 100, Sarasota FL 34232
