GLOCESTER- Rolland D. "Lefty" Carpentier, 88 , Glocester, RI, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday morning, January 9, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Alice L. (Couture) Carpentier.
Born in Woonsocket on March 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Donat and Irene (Guerin) Carpentier. He was a Woonsocket resident most of his life before moving to Glocester.
Rolland was an avid golfer, one of the original members of the Sunset League once achieving a hole-in-one, he also enjoyed bowling throughout his life. He was a member of the Glocester Senior Center and enjoyed shooting pool and sharing lunch with his many friends there.
He and his wife Alice, founded Rite Glass Co. in 1970 operating the business until selling it to their son Russell in 1986.
He is survived by his son Russell and his wife Annette of Glocester and one grandson Ryan also of Glocester. He was the brother of the late Gerald M. Carpentier.
There will be no services or calling hours per the wishes of the deceased.
