MILLVILLE, MA - Mary E. "Betty" Dean, 78, of Millville, passed away Fri. Jan. 11, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, RI with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife for 52 years to the late John F. Dean who died in 2011.
Mrs. Dean was born in Worcester in 1934, the daughter of the late Loreto and Mary (Dowling) DeFilippo and was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Milford and Becker College.
A lifelong resident of Millville, Mrs. Dean had worked for Tupperware Corp. in Blackstone for 25 years and later worked for Garelick Farms in Franklin, retiring in 2008.
Betty was a longtime member of the Board of Registrars for the Town of Millville and was a member of St. Augustine's Church, Millville. She loved to shop, enjoyed arts and crafts, and cherished her children and grandchildren dearly.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her children Mary Beth Gervais of Lansing, MI, Jane Bonin of Millville, Caroline J. and her husband Troy Dale of Mt. Pleasant, TN, James J. and his wife Lisa Dean of Douglas, John F. Dean, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Pittsfield, ME, and Jennifer and her husband Keith Wing of Millville; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Mary Agnes Dean.
Funeral services will be Wed. Jan. 16, 2013 at 9 AM from the Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St. (Rte. 122), Uxbridge, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Augustine's Church, 17 Lincoln St., Millville, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge.
Visiting hours will be Tues. Jan. 15, 2013 from 4 - 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice or to splurge a little and purchase in memory of Betty a little something that is " Shiny".
