NORTH SMITHFIELD- Robert A. Ballou 82, of Obeline Dr. died Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Yolande (Brochu) Ballou.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Edmond and Marion (St. Pierre) Ballou.
Bob was a Korean War Air Force Veteran and served with the 102D Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron at Wheelus AFB Tripoli, Libia. Bob was a driver salesman for the former Blackstone Potato Chip Co. for fifteen years, he worked as a custodian for the former Eastland Bank and after his retirement he worked part time at N E Country Club and Maple Gate Golf Course for several years. Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Senior Golf League at Chemawa Golf Course. He was also a member of the 102D AC & W SQ Association.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Michael Ballou and his wife Alice of Smithfield, RI; Alan Ballou and his wife Lisa of South Deerfield, MA.; two daughters Cheryl Ballou and her partner Maylaine Yep of Las Vegas, NV; and Marie Lucke and her husband Alan of North Attleboro, MA; and four grandchildren, Christopher Ballou of Cumberland, RI, Joshua Lucke of N. Attleboro, MA and Anna and Renee Ballou both of South Deerfield, MA. He was also the brother of the late Walter and Leo Ballou.
His funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave., Woonsocket. Visiting Hours are Thursday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to his late great-nephew Cory Gaudet's Memorial Fund
