CUMBERLAND- Therese (Reilly) Simmons, 75, passed away on January 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert L. Simmons.
Terry was born in Woonsocket, the daughter of the late John A. and Florence (Creighton) Reilly. She was a graduate of St. Clare High School and Regis College. She began her teaching career as a volunteer in the Lay Apostolate in Hobbs, New Mexico. She taught for several years in the Bellingham, Massachusetts and Woonsocket school systems.
When her children reached school age, she managed the Cumberland Meal Site for Senior Services. Subsequently, Terry and two friends opened Second Editions, a consignment store on Front Street and Higginson Avenue in Lincoln, which she owned and operated into the 1990's.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her loving children, James R. Simmons, Esq. and his wife, Amy of Middletown, John R. Simmons and his wife, Claudette of East Providence, Carroll Ann Messier of Burrillville and Christopher H. Simmons of Cumberland; her loving grandchildren, Tyler H. and Katherine E. Simmons of Middletown, Ashley M. and Justin R. Simmons of East Providence, and Mikaela T. and Christopher D. Messier; and her sister, Esther R. Caran and her husband, Anthony of Cumberland; one niece Esther Plouffe and one nephew, John A. Reilly. She was predeceased by her brother, John A. Reilly, Jr.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, JANUARY 19 at 10 A.M. in St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Relatives and friends may call at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln FRIDAY 4-8 P.M.
