WOONSOCKET --- Vincent Pearl's goal 4:26 into the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and helped Mount St. Charles net arguably its biggest win of the young season on Friday night, a 4-2 triumph over Division I-Cimini rival La Salle Academy at Adelard Arena.
The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mounties, who are 5-1 in the league and face Coventry in a crossover game tonight at 8 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center.
Tyler Scroggins scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season 1:58 into the game for the Mounties, but the Rams (5-3-1) tied the score 84 seconds later and copped a 2-1 lead with 2:24 left in the period on a power-play goal.
But Pat Glod tied the score for Mount with 2:57 to play in the second period, and after Pearl gave the hosts the lead, Devin Votta added an insurance goal with 45 seconds to go in the game off Patrick Holmes' second assist of the night.
Mount goaltender Brian Larence ended the night with 24 saves as Mount outshot La Salle, 38-26.
