Burrillville hires two officers

BURRILLVILLE — The Burrillville Police Department has two new officers.
Officers Holly Barrett and Robert Veader were sworn in by Town Clerk Louise Phaneuf on Jan. 23 as family members and friends looked on in Town Hall.
Both officers graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy on Dec. 19 and are presently participating in the Field Training Officer Program, said Major Lareto P. Guglietta.
Officer Barrett, 25, is a resident of North Smithfield, a graduate of North Smithfield High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in justice studies from Rhode Island College.
Officer Veader, 28, is a Burrillville resident, a graduate of Burrillville High School and holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Community College of Rhode Island. He was previously employed as a corrections officer at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls.
