WOONSOCKET - Margaret M. "Peg" Hoard, of Woonsocket, died peacefully in her home January 27, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Lillian F. (Walsh) Hoard.
She leaves her sister, Elizabeth A. Hughes and her husband Dennis of Providence, her brother, David J. Hoard of Lincoln, and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. She was predeceased by her brother, E. Gerald Hoard, her sister, Helen F. Hoard and her sister-in-law, Judith Hoard.
Peg earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Rhode Island College in 1954 and her Masters of Education degree from Boston University in 1967. She was a longtime teacher in the Woonsocket Public Elementary School System. Peg was an avid walker for many years.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Second Ave. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. Calling hours are Friday, from 4-7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 415 Olo St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
