PROVIDENCE -- Mount St. Charles junior Anthony Pasquarelli fashioned quite a Tuesday night for himself at the R.I. Class C Championships, held at the Providence Career & Technical High School’s field house.
He not only captured the high jump title with a leap of six feet even, but also took second in the 300-meter dash (39.50) and fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.00).
That wasn’t all, as he anchored the runner-up 4 x 200-meter relay (which consisted of Andrew Van Winter, James Mullaney and Dan Weiss), which finished in 3:47.90.
Teammate James Dibona chipped in a second in the 55 hurdles (9.20), while fellow Mountie James Paganelli took fourth in the 600 (1:1.90).
With those placements and others, MSC mustered fourth in the team standings with 60 points, just three shy of third-place Narragansett and one ahead of Moses Brown (59).
In the Class A title meet, Hendricken sailed to the crown, courtesy of 102 points, though East Providence finished seventh (33.5), Woonsocket 11th (10) and Cumberland 12th (8).
Townies’ junior Ryan Williams snatched wins in the 55 dash (6.60) and 300 (36.90), and also teamed with Chris Moura, Joshua Rambert and Anthony Andrade on the fifth-place 4 x 400 relay (3:57.20).
Moura manufactured a third in the long jump (20-10 ¾), and Rambert took fourth in the same event, just 1 ¾ inches short of Moura’s best.
Woonsocket junior Connor Fugere snatched second in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw, while the Clippers’ lone individual placement came in the 3,000 when Sean Laverty hustled to a time of 9:42.80. The Cumberland 4 x 800 relay quartet of David Agudelo, Kevin Seaver, Matthew Smith and Alex Southiere placed third in 8:43.60.
As for the Class B Championships, Lincoln’s Nick Ryan, Aaron Roseman and Jacob Palladini all garnered runner-up finishes in the 3,000, 55 dash and 1,500, respectively, and Palladini added a third in the 1,000. Those and other top-six placements gave the Lions fifth overall with 31 points, only three behind Portsmouth and Toll Gate, which shared third (34).
For Shea, which placed in an eighth-place tie with West Warwick in the standings (20 points), its 4 x 200 relay squad of James Tetchi, Bouboucar Lemon, Denis Lloyd and Samson Olowoporoku delivered a second in 1:36.40. The anchorman also took third in the 300 (1:30.20), and hustled a leg on the Raiders’ sixth-place 4 x 400 relay.
