Arthur J. Caron
FRANKLIN- Arthur J. Caron 89, of Franklin, died Wednesday February 13, 2013 at the Milford Regional Medical Center, after being stricken ill at his home. He was the husband of the late Madeline E. (Gasbarro) Caron who died in 2009.
Born January 7, 1924 in Bellingham a son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Boiteau) Caron, he was raised and educated in Bellingham and was a Franklin resident for over 50 years.
Following his graduation from Bellingham High School, he joined the United States Navy during WWII, he attained the rank of Aviation Machinists Mate Second Class, was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 1 star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.
After returning home, he worked for the Marlboro Foundry as a molder and retired after 30 years.
He was an outstanding baseball player, and was part of Benny's Oilers a semi pro baseball team, was an avid reader, fisherman and golfer.
Arthur was a member of Franklin Country Club and the Franklin Senior Center.
He is survived by a son Paul A Caron and his wife Rita of Auburn and a daughter Linda J. Caron of Bellingham, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is the brother of the late William, & Edgar Caron and Antwionette Ripish.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service with military honors Tues. Feb. 19th, at 10AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
