Anne E. Simmons
ANNAPOLIS, MD- On February 14, Anne E. "Mimi" Simmons, 81, of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Cumberland, RI, died at home after a 10 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born October 8, 1931 in Woonsocket, RI to the late Peter and Catherine Keriaco, she graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1945 and then graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in 1949.
Anne was a legal secretary in the prominent states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She was an Army and Air Force wife living with her husband in Cocoa Beach, FL and Edwards Air Force Base, CA until they and their two children moved back to Rhode Island to be with family. Anne lived in Cumberland, RI for 46 years until moving to Annapolis in 2010. She was a daughter of the American Revolution. Anne enjoyed reading, gardens and being by the water. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family. Her favorite past-time was being beside her husband, traveling, and being "Mimi" to her loving family.
She passed away peacefully at home with her entire family at her side. Anne and Walter were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on March 15th.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Phillip Kerry and one sister, Martha McIntyre.
Anne is survived by her husband Walter J. Simmons; one son, Douglas (Anne) Simmons of Santa Cruz, CA; one daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Thibodeau of Arnold, MD; one sister, Elizabeth Heroux of Woonsocket, RI; two grandsons, Neil Simmons of Santa Cruz, CA and Jackson Thibodeau of Arnold, MD; two granddaughters, Sophie Thibodeau of Boston, MA and Chelsea Thibodeau Hachey of Annapolis, MD; two great-grandchildren, Jackie and Jake Simmons.
Friends are invited to Anne's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Monday, February 18 from 9am to 10am where a memorial service will be held at 10am. Inurnment is private. An online guestbook is available at www.kalasfuneralhomes.com.
