WOONSOCKET- Henrietta "Sweetie" E. (Baxter) Eddleston, 89, of No. Providence, died February 22, 2013 in Hopkins Manor, No. Providence. She was the wife of the late John L. Eddleston.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Emmett C. and Ella M. (Courchaine) Baxter.
Mrs. Eddleston worked as a clerk for the Board of Canvassers in Woonsocket and was also an assistant manager for the former Lerner Shops and worked at the US Rubber Company during WWII. She was the first president of the Auxiliary for the American Legion Post #85-Fairmount Post, a former member of the Fairmount Wives Club, a member of the Gatewood Association and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet C. DiTarando and her husband, Roger of Vernon, CT; her niece, Barbara Fadden of Hopedale, MA; her nephew, William J. Baxter and his daughter, Anna Baxter of Narragansett; and her Goddaughter, Holly Lefevre of Conway, SC. She was the sister of the late William,Vincent and Leon Baxter.
At their summer getaway at Wallum Lake, Sweetie, John, Jan along with cherished friends and family enjoyed many happy years of cookouts, birthday celebrations, sleepovers, swimming, water skiing and, sing - alongs by the camp fire. "The Lake" will be forever etched in our minds and hearts.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, Second Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Manor, 210 Smithfield Rd., No. Providence, RI, 02904.
