UXBRIDGE, MA- Samir H. Makarious, M.D., 70, of Uxbridge, died Fri. March 1, 2013 in Mass. General Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Shadia (Awad) Makarious.
He was an active member of St. Mark Coptic Church of Boston where he served as a member of the Board of Deacons. He also enjoyed painting.
Dr. Makarious was a primary care physician for over five decades, including in Cumberland, RI for 17 years and presently the Medical Director at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge and St. Camillus Healthcare Ctr. in Whitinsville. He was also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Brown University in Providence.
In addition to his wife Shadia of 38 years, he is survived by a son Mina S. and his wife Danielle Makarious of Cambridge, MA; a brother Samuel Makarious of Chicago, IL; two sisters Nawal and Fawzia Makarious both of Egypt, a cousin Kamal Armanious and his wife Mary of Douglas, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters Moneera and Esther Makarious.
Funeral services will be Mon. March 4, 2013 at 11 AM in St. Mark's Church, 145 Oak St., Natick, MA. Burial will follow in St. Lazarus Cemetery, Charlton, MA.
Visiting hours will be Sun. March 3, 2013 from 5 8 PM in BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge, MA.
