MILFORD MA- Mr. Albert J. Forcier, 97, of Milford MA, died unexpectedly Tuesday (March 5, 2013) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after being stricken at his residence. He was the husband of Janette R. (LaChapelle) Forcier.
Mr. Forcier was born in Woonsocket RI, the son of the late Joseph and the late Marie L. (Ferron) Forcier.
He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy, Class of 1935. He also attended Hill College in Woonsocket and also attended Rhode Island School of Design.
Mr. Forcier was first employed as a musician working on a cruise ship that sailed from Providence RI to Cuba on a weekly basis. He also was a member of the "Duffy Taverners" musicians group in the early 1940's. He then began working in the textile industry, working as a supervisor at Bell Worsted, located in Woonsocket and later at Steffin Manufacturing Company, located in Manchester NH.
Following his military service during WW II, he returned home to help manage the family business, "The Social Brass Rail", located in Woonsocket. He later worked as a union carpenter and lastly at Natick Laboratories, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Forcier had also served as a deputy sheriff for the Worcester County for about twenty-five years and a longtime member of the Par-X Club of Woonsocket. Mr. Forcier was also a WW II US Army veteran having served in the European theatre and was an active member of the VFW Post #7272 in Bellingham, and the Lawrence J. Heron DAV Post #6 of Milford.
Along with his beloved wife of 62 years; he is survived by 2 Sons: Albert L. Forcier of FL and Joseph L. Forcier of Hopkinton MA 3 Daughters: Laurel Forcier, wife of Lester Rosenthal of Goffstown NH, Paulette, wife of Edward Grace of Mendon MA and Janine, wife of Richard Osburn of Mendon MA; 8 Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Forcier was the youngest of 19 children and the last of his siblings to pass away.
His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Saturday (March 9th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland RI. Visiting hours will be Friday (March 8th) from 5pm to 8pm.
