INVERNESS, FL- William D. "Bill" Gratton, age 74, Inverness, died March 15, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on August 22, 1938 in Burlington, VT.
He served our country in the United States Air Force and the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Bill was employed as a supervisor with the Security Management Team of the Department of Corrections, Commonweath of Massachusetts for over 15 years. He was a member of the Franklin (MA) Elks Lodge, having served as Exalted Ruler and District Deputy. He also was a member of the Inverness Elks and served as Trustee. Bill was active in the 26th Infantry Division of the Military Police.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Patricia Gratton; his son W. Scott Gratton, Inverness FL and daughter Lynn A. Colvin and her partner Jeremi Colvin Fall River, MA; brothers Lawrence (Donna) Gratto, RI, Thomas Gratto, NY, Timothy (Patricia) Gratto, NY and Albert (Barbara) Olio, VT and sisters Jeanne Thomas, AL, Wanda (David) Wheelock, VT and Angelina (William) Nulty, VT four grandchildren Katelyn, Ashley, Marissa and Summer. He was preceded in death by a sister Marie DeForge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 9:00 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. The family will receive friends in visitation from 4-6 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, with Elks and Military Honors. Inurnment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
