HENDERSONVILLE, NC - Frances J. Monk, 76, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away on February 13, 2013 quietly at home in the presence of her family. Daughter of the late Albert J. Paulhus and Clara (Richard) Paulhus, she was born in Woonsocket, RI on February 18, 1936. She was a graduate of Bellingham High School and worked as a bookkeeper at various companies.
She married Alfred J. Monk on April 16, 1966. They had five children and resided in North Smithfield. They owned and operated the Blackstone Pharmacy from 1975 to 1990. They moved to Florida in 1992 and then to North Carolina in 2011. She was a Catholic and a former member of St. Paul's Church in Blackstone and a member of the Ladies Guild and enjoyed quilting and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Monk, her sisters, Claire Lanctot, Jeannine DuBreuil, Paulette Paulhus, Constance Paulhus and brother Albert Paulhus.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alfred J. Monk, daughters, Mary Monk and Patricia Marshall of Hendersonville, NC, daughter, Kathleen Lefort of Cumberland, RI and son, John Monk of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren, Tayla and Kyle Benoit of Cumberland, RI, A.J. and Sheridan Monk of Winter Park, FL, Samantha Marshall of Granite Falls, NC, Kendall Marshall of Hendersonville, NC and Justin Monk of Orlando, FL; sisters, Simone Nadeau of Poinciana, FL, Rachel Loyear of Charlotte, NC and Clara Pratt of Kodak, TN; brothers, Ronald and Robert Paulhus of Bellingham, MA and Richard Paulhus of Stanfield, NC.
Her funeral mass at which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held at St. Paul's Church in Blackstone, Mass on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Cook's Cemetery in Bellingham, Mass. Condolence cards may be sent to the family at or PO Box 945, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
