BURRILLVILLE - Shirley S. (Simpson) Woodis, 72, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the wife of David L. Woodis, whom she married May 23, 1959. Born in Pascoag, she was the daughter of the late John and Mable (Lanigan) Simpson.
Shirley retired from Bank of America and worked in Customer Service. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Worthy Matron, member of Business & Professional Women's Club, member and past president of the Burrillville Arts Association and active member of the Community Baptist Church.
Besides her husband David, she is survived by two sons, David L. Woodis Jr. and his wife Joan of Putnam, CT, Scott A. Woodis and his wife Carolynn of Pascoag, a sister, Elizabeth Lees and her husband Wallace of Pascoag and three grandchildren; Michael, Katelyn and Colby Woodis.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11 AM at Community Baptist Church, 111 Church St., Pascoag. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Calling hours are Friday, March 22 from 4 to 7 PM in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Special Olympics, PO Box 702, Greenville, RI 02828-0702.
