WOONSOCKET - Walter L. Vermette 85, of Mendon Rd. died Sunday March 17th at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Pauline C. (Caron) Vermette.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Alfred and Alice G. (Handfield) Vermette. Walter was a bartender, office manager and co-owner of his family's business the former Vermette's Restaurant. Walter started working in the family's restaurant at a very young age and continued throughout his life. He served in the US Navy and Air Force during the Korean War.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Karen A. Audette and her husband Paul of Woonsocket, and Kathleen Keegan of Greenville, three grandchildren Kimberly A. Mosher, Kevin Audette and Christopher Keegan and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Addelyn Audette. He was also the brother of the late Ralph, Raymond, and Arthur Vermette and Doris Lavallee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. The family will receive guests prior to mass. Burial will be private. Please visit www.fournierandfournier.com for guestbook.
