YORK BEACH, MAINE- Evelyn R. Corey, 92, of 15 Long Beach Avenue, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at home. She was born January 31, 1921 in West Chazy, New York, a daughter of the late Frank and Emma Rivers. She was married and lived in Woonsocket, R.I. up until 1959, then raised her family in Concord, NH, before moving to York, Maine in 1983. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Walter O. Corey, in 1980. She leaves two sons, Walter L. Corey and his wife Hyeran of Fredericksburg, VA and Eugene P. Corey and his wife Cynthia of York, Maine; a daughter Judith E. Corey of Georgetown, MA; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn, affectionately known as "Nana", will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. Nana enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, along with gardening and canning. She was very active for most of her life. She would walk York Beach every day and would exercise regularly at the fitness center until she was well into her 80's. Evelyn was a devout Catholic and parishioner at St. Christopher's Church. She was a past member of the International Women's Club of New England and the Old York Garden Club. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 2 in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday April 1st in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine.
