WOONSOCKET- Douglas Gordon Guilmain, 86, a native of Woonsocket, RI passed away on March 27th in Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Ulderic and Isabelle (Terry) (Hart) Guilmain.
He leaves his wife of sixty-three years, Theresa (Robidoux) Guilmain, four children; Joanne Guilmain, Diane Soucie wife of Donald Soucie, Kenneth D. Guilmain and Barbara Santagata wife of Paul Santagata. He also leaves four grandchildren; Amy Conrardy, James Conrardy, Kenneth Guilmain, Jr. and Michael Guilmain. Douglas was the brother of the late Francis, Russell, Walter and Dana Hart, Esther (Hart) Whipple, Thelma (Hart) Albin and Ulderic Guilmain, Jr.
He was a WWII Veteran who served in the Pacific in both the Navy and the Seabees. He worked at Amica Mutual Insurance Co. for thirty-five years before retiring in 1985. Mr. Guilmain was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church for over fifty years. In his younger years, Douglas enjoyed dancing, playing pool and going fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Charles Church, 190 No. Main St., Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Monday from 4 - 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or to St. Charles Church.
