Serial flasher sought in Coleman School incidents

WOONSOCKET – In conjunction with the Woonsocket Education Department, the police yesterday warned parents and children about a man who has been exposing himself to youngsters on their way to Coleman Elementary School.
“We’re doing everything we can to find him,” said Detective Jamie Paone, spokeswoman for the police. “Hopefully someone can provide us with more information to help us identify this guy.”
Police believe same man exposed himself to children on their way to Coleman at least four times in the last year, she said. The most recent incident happened about 9 a.m. Thursday.
Paone said the suspect exposed himself to three girls, who ran away and reported the incident to personnel at school.
The suspect is described as a white male between 25 and 30 years old, with blonde hair and glasses, driving a silver four-door sedan.
Paone said the suspect’s pattern is always the same. He drives up alongside children walking to school, stops, then arches himself upward in the driver’s seat to reveal his private parts through the closed window. He never leaves the car or rolls down the window or says anything to the children; he just exposes himself and drives off.
The incidents have always happened on one of the side streets directly adjacent to Coleman, located at 96 Second Ave., around the time children are reporting for classes in the morning.
Paone said the girls involved in yesterday’s incident did exactly what they should have done – they ran away and reported what happened to someone in authority at school.
Paone said anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact the police at 766-1212. Information may also be conveyed to the police department anonymously on the Tip Line number, 401-769-4444.
