WOONSOCKET- Clara B. Nelson, 91, of Woonsocket, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center. Clara was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Carter and Rebecca M. Davis on December 3, 1921.
Her family moved to Boston, MA when she was young. She attended Roxbury Memorial High School. She was a dietary aide at the Wentworth Institute until her retirement. She enjoyed walking, special outings, board games, knitting and spending time with her daughter. She enjoyed children and was a kind and gentle soul.
Clara is survived by her daughter Sandra Nelson of Woonsocket; niece Barbara Kamya of Cary, North Carolina; two grand nieces Darlene Kamya Middleton of Raleigh, NC and Stacey Kamya Grigsby of Alexandria, VA; four great grand nephews and nieces and many cousins.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Oakland Grove for their support in her final days.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 beginning with visitation at 1 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St, with a service to follow at 2 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association- RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence RI 02906.
