WOONSOCKET- Rita I. (Gagnon) Laflin, 87, a lifelong city resident, died April 11, 2013 in Landmark Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles M. Laflin, Jr and the daughter of the late Viateur and Rose (Savoie) Gagnon.
Mrs. Laflin worked in the local textile industry prior to retiring from the former Coby Glass Co., in the early 1970s and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She was a person who was genuinely happy and perfectly content with her life, devoted and inspirational to her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Benjamin of Harrisville; two sons-in-law, Denis Benjamin, and Henri Berthiaume; her brother Normand Gagnon of Woonsocket; three grandchildren, Sarah Berthiaume Leduc, Angela Crossman, and William C.L. Dwyer and eight great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marjorie Berthiaume; and sister to the late Henri Gagnon and Muriel Zoha.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, Second Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Monday from 5 - 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Residents Activity Fund at Overlook Nursing & Rehab Center, 14 Rock Ave, Pascoag, RI 02859.
