CUMBERLAND- Marcel J. "Mike" Rivard, 83, died Saturday in Landmark Medical Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Alice M. (Durand) Rivard.
Born in Quebec, Canada, son of the late Alphonse and Albina (Plante) Rivard.
He was a Foreman machinist for the Industrial Machine Corp, in Georgiaville, until he retired in l982.
Mr. Rivard, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a former member of the American Legion Fairmount Post 15, and also of the Veteran of Foreign War, and a member of the Chemawa Country Club.
Mike was an avid golfer and card player; playing poker, and pitch, quote "I win" he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Alice he is survived by his children Denis and his wife Darlene Rivard of Smithfield, R.I., Paula and her husband Ken Moretti, of Woonsocket, Donna and her husband Kevin Driscoll, of Cumberland, R.I. One brother Jean Paul "J. P." Rivard, of Pawtucket. Three sisters, Rejeanne Denault of Florida, Denise Benoit of Woonsocket, and Claire Lemay of Lincoln, R.I. Eight grandchildren.
He also was the father of the late Paul J. Rivard and brother of the late Roger, Leo, Gus Rivard, and Therese Chevrette.
His funeral will be held on Thursday April 18, 2013 at 9 A.M. from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Rd. Cumberland, R.I. Burial will be in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are Wednesday from 5-8 P.M.
