UXBRIDGE- Bertha C. (Roy) Malo, 92 of Calumet Ct. formerly of Henry St. died Fri. May 10 at St. Camillus Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She is survived by 3 sons, Rene M. Malo and his wife Virginia Ginny of Douglas; Richard A. Malo and his wife Kyle-Ann of Putnam, CT; and Donald L. Malo and his wife Karen of Webster; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Rene J. Malo who died on Jan. 30, 2006 as well as her brother Armand Roy.
Born in the Linwood section Uxbridge on Aug. 27, 1920 she was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Rose (Arsenault) Roy and lived in Uxbridge all of her life.
She was a graduate of the Good Shepherd School in Linwood and worked as a cloth inspector and a weaver for many of the area woolen mills until her retirement in 1985.
Bertha enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved taking trips and cruises with her husband including Canada, Florida, and everywhere in between. She was the past Treasurer, Vice Regent and Regent of the Daughters of Isabella and was very involved in charity work in the area. She participated in the Bishops Fund and ran the St. Vincents de Paul in Uxbridge for many years for St. Marys Church. Bertha was former member of Good Shepherd Church and St. Mary's Church in Uxbridge.
Her funeral will be from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge with a Mass in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. Uxbridge on Tues. May 14 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tues. May 14 from 8:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. Donations in Bertha's memory may be made to St. Camillus Activity Fund, 447 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
