NORTH SMITHFIELD- Ronald A. Roberts, 63, of North Smithfield, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Mary H. (Lisak) Roberts, whom he married September 23, 1972.
Born in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late Rene Roberts and Rhea (Deshaies) Roberts of North Smithfield.
Mr. Roberts was an assembler at General Motors for many years and also worked at St. Antoine Residence and recently retired. He served in the 1118th Army National Guard during the Vietnam War and was discharged as a sergeant. Mr. Roberts was a handy man, always building and fixing things and ran his own business, Ron's Small Engine Repair. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Mr. Roberts enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his son, Joseph S. Roberts of Woonsocket; two daughters, Michelle L. Dexter and her husband Eric of Lincoln and Kerri A. Gaulin and her husband Kevin of Harrisville; his twin brother, Donald Roberts of CT; five grandchildren, Patrick, Emma, Grace, Blake and Derryck; his sister-in-law, Ann Lisak of Uxbridge, MA; two nephews and a niece.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 10:30 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Matty Fund, P.O. Box 5300, Wakefield, RI 02880.
