CUMBERLAND- Cornelia T. (Walsh) Ethier, 90, of The Holiday Retirement Home, formerly of Woonsocket, Cumberland and North Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Landmark Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilfrid V. Ethier, MD.
Born in Newburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late James J. & Mary C. (Henderson) Walsh. She was the loving mother of James J. Ethier and his wife, Elaine of Lincoln, Charles M. Ethier of North Smithfield, Roberta K. Dufresne of Cumberland, Elaine H. Frechette and her husband, Barry of Woonsocket, Margaret M. Beaulieu and her husband, Steven of Woonsocket, Elizabeth A. Lavoie and her husband, Leonard of North Smithfield. She leaves her cherished eight grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her late great-grandson, Daylan Harmon, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late James Walsh.
Mrs. Ethier was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's College of Nursing in Newburgh, NY and was a Nursing Supervisor at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. She was a member of the former Fogarty Hospital Ladies Guild and a member of L'Union St. Jean Baptiste. She was a communicant of All Saints Church and St. Joan of Arc Church. She loved to read and travel, and her greatest joy was her family, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at 12:00 Noon from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM at All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket, RI. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
Visiting hours are on Tuesday, May 21st from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Cornelia T. Ethier may be made to The Holiday Retirement Home, 30 Sayles Hill Road, Manville, RI 02838.
