CUMBERLAND- Marjorie P. Cummings, 84, of Forestdale Drive in Cumberland, died on May 19 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, RI.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marjorie Place.
She attended Woonsocket High School and the University of Rhode Island and lived in Virginia and Connecticut for several years before settling down permanently in Rhode Island in 1963.
Mrs. Cummings retired from the American Mathematical Society in 1986 as the Director of Production and Distribution. She had previously been employed by Puritan Aerosol Corp., in Cumberland, as Assistant to the Vice President.
She was past President of the Roanoke, VA Jaycettes, a former Secretary of the New Haven, CT Advertising Club, and a past Vice President of the Ballou Home for the Aged. She was an active communicant of St. James Episcopal Church in Woonsocket.
Mrs. Cummings leaves two sons, William Cummings of Fairfax, VA, and Christopher Cummings of Fresno, CA, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Cummings.
A memorial service for Mrs. Cummings will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11 AM in St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Hamlet Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, the Cummings family has requested that any donations be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs in Rhode Island.
