WOONSOCKET- Robert W. Sanford, 82, of Walnut Hill Rd. died Monday May 20, 2013, in the Oakland Grove Health Center, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Lorraine (Perry) Sanford.
Born in Providence, son of the late, Thomas J. and Grace M. (Farrell) Sanford.
Mr. Sanford was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
He worked in sales for 27 years for Cumberland Engineering, prior to retiring.
He was a member of the Red Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. DAV post 79 Fierlit-Korsin in Central Falls, VFW Post Gatchel Post 6 and the Fr. Marot CYO Center. He also served as Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph Church, in Woonsocket.
Besides his beloved wife Lorraine he is survived by his three children, Colleen A. Sanford and her partner Stephanie Eckhaus, of Oakland, California, Kevin J. and his wife Judith Sanford, of Greenville, R.I. Sean J. and Bethany Sanford of Lincoln, R.I. One brother, John Sanford of Connecticut, and one sister Kathleen Labossiere, of Pawtucket, R.I., and nine grandchildren.
He also was the father of the late Robert J. Sanford, and brother to the late Thomas J. Sanford Jr. and William and Raymond Sanford.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 A.M. from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, with a Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd. Relatives and friends are invited calling hours are Thursday May 23, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations to the "Jimmy Fund" C/O Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston. MA 022284-9168, in his memory would be appreciated. Burial will be private.
