NORTH SMITHFIELD- North, The Rev. Deacon Susan J. (Gardner), 59, passed away suddenly, Monday June 3, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Christopher R. North.
Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of Alice Phyllis (Davis) Gardner and the late Alfred Byron Gardner, Jr.
The Rev. Deacon North was a speech pathologist for the Providence School Dept. for the past 7 years and worked with local nursing homes. She graduated from Barrington College with a BA in music education and then received her Master's degree in speech pathology in 2000 from MA General Hospital Institute of Health Professionals. An ordained Episcopal deacon since 1991, she currently served at Trinity Episcopal Church, North Scituate.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by her sons, Jonathan J. North and his wife Sarah and Joshua J. North; her brother Joel B. Gardner and wife Doreen; her sister Phyllis E. Spaziano and husband Michael; grandson Ryan Kennings and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation SATURDAY 4-7pm in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville. A Requiem Eucharist Service will be celebrated SUNDAY at 2pm in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket, RI. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Roger Williams Middle School, Student Needs Committee, 278 Thurbers Ave., Providence, RI 02905 or Episcopal Charities, 275 North Main St., Providence, RI 02903 will be appreciated.
